Watersports

Den Helder and Den Oever are starting points for treks over the Wad and the North Sea. The Wads (tidal flats) is an unusual area for sailing due to the great differential between high and low tide. A large section dries up during low tide, exposing food for many species of birds and seals.

Make a choice: marina or boat rental.

The North Sea Canal offers access to the inland waterway of North Holland, where sailors can easily enter.
A network of waterways offers a varied sailing area for motor yachts; the polders along the North Holland Canal; villages such as the Rijp. And countless opportunities to go ashore and moor the boat to well-fitted berths.

A beautiful route is in 'Varen door Noord-Holland' (Sailing through North Holland), which is available at the VVVs. There are also many possibilities for other water sports such as canoeing and rowing.

Since June 1997, the Blue Network Project Agency has been set up in the town hall of Niedorp and is actively engaged in making the waterways in North Holland North more accessible.

The purpose is to improve the attraction of the waterways in North Holland North. The focus has been on recreational sailing. Water junctions will be optimised and sailing routes will be developed.
